Activities At terre et toi
The lake Trail
Each cabin has private access to the trail we’ve made across the land at Terre et Toi. It leads you through the woods, across the fields and past ancient oaks to discover our hidden lakes.
The wild swimming lake
The shallow edges of the lake allow you to wade in gently before taking the plunge into the deepest waters of up to 12ft. There is a row boat for your use tied up to the west facing jetty - the perfect spot to watch the sunset.
Wood fired jacuzzi
The cabins Skylark and Elvensong each have a wood fired jacuzzi in their garden.
Nature Watch and Stargazing
We do all we can to preserve and cultivate the wildlife that abounds at Terre et Toi by leaving the nature undisturbed. You can see numerous species of butterflies and dragonflies, the rare native pond turtle, abundant bird life , the occasional wild deer and with no light pollution the night skies are ablaze with stars. Should you want to take a closer look we can provide you with high resolution binoculars adapted for both wildlife and star gazing.

SEPTEMBER 25-28
This September 25-28 we’ll be hosting a small, 3-day hands-on earth building workshop here at Terre-et-Toi.
Over three full days, you’ll work directly with raw earth and straw, learning techniques we use in our own cabins and barn renovation .
Together we’ll explore:
• Preparing and applying earthen plasters
•The traditional French torchis technique (hay dipped in earth and layered with clay)
•How we adapt torchis beyond conventional flat walls — shaping curves, internal walls, sculptural forms and structural panels
•Understanding layering, drying times, and finishing techniques
•How to apply these methods thoughtfully in your own projects
No previous building experience is needed.
One of the beauties of working with earth is that it allows you to move at your own pace. The material is forgiving. You can experiment, make mistakes, reshape, and refine. It invites learning through play.
This is a practical, immersive hands on learning experience.
We keep the group to a maximum of 6 to ensure personal guidance throughout.
All materials and tools are provided.
After the workshop, you’ll also receive a digital guide summarising the techniques we’ve covered — so you can revisit the process with confidence when you begin your own projects at home.
Tuition: £450 per person
(3 full days, materials, tools, and digital guide included)
